
Choir „Moldova” of the National Radio-TV Broadcaster. Honored choir in the Republic of Moldova.

The choir was founded in 1944 at the National Radio-TV Broadcaster where, with some interruptions, it activates until present. This highly prestigious choir focuses mainly on valuing, recording and popularization of the national and international choral art, and also stimulation of the local composers towards this important type of music.
In the Republic of Moldova, the choir “Moldova” is the only one that consistently plays and records all the pieces of work written for choir by the national composers. The database of the National Radio-TV Broadcaster contains several thousands of recordings of the choir. This thesaurus comprises different types of musical compositions: classic, modern, representative international music, national and international folklore music.
The choir is laureate at several national and international contests in Italy, France, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
.Various CDs with recordings of the choir are available. Part of the recordings was made in collaboration with the Chamber Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra, Folklore Orchestra “Folclor” of the National Radio-TV Broadcaster and also with other orchestras in Chișinău.
During its existence, the choir was conducted by several notorious personalities from the Republic of Moldova:
1944 – 1952 (the year when the activity of the choir was suspended) – Petre Şerban, Ion Popescu, Eugen Macaleţ;
1961 – 1967 Eugen Macaleţ;
Since 1967 the choir changes the status to professional choir.
1967 – 1976 – Eugen Macaleţ;
1976 – 1987 – Teodor Zgureanu;
1987 – prezent – Valentin Budilevschi.
